Broadway Avenue, Brooklyn
The BMT Jamaica Line (J, M, and Z trains) of the New York City Subway runs on elevated tracks over Broadway (Brooklyn) Avenue. When you walk on this Avenue for the first time you are struck by the presence of these elevated tracks. They are imposing occupying a significant part of the avenue. Trains traveling on these tracks also generate a deafening noise. You have to spend some time on this Avenue in order to really discover it. It is not only full of life but also rich in color. The elevated tracks, the real backbone of this Avenue, remain the focal point of my project. I play with colors, geometry, lines, contrasts to discover and understand the genius of this place.
